Dr. Angela Funovits is a highly regarded board certified dermatologist and an internationally acclaimed mentalist and illusionist, known for uniting the science of medicine with the artistry of performance. She is a full-time physician in the Northeast Ohio area at Allied Dermatology and Skin Surgery, where she specializes in comprehensive medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Her clinical excellence has earned repeated recognition as one of Cleveland Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and one of Akron Life Magazine’s “Top Doctors.” She serves on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Dermatological Association and is a professor of internal medicine in the dermatology department at Northeast Ohio Medical University. She has been awarded recognition by the American Academy of Dermatology for advancing public understanding of the specialty, highlighting the dermatologist’s role in diagnosing and treating serious, rare, and complex skin conditions.
Her entertainment career experienced rapid growth when she became first runner-up on NBC’s primetime Phenomenon series alongside Criss Angel and Uri Geller, a debut that introduced her to millions of viewers across the world. She has since built an impressive body of work in international television, theater, and corporate entertainment, gaining a reputation for intelligent and psychologically driven magic and mentalism. Her unique dual expertise in both medicine and performance art led Cleveland Magazine to name her one of the city’s “Most Interesting People.”
Angela has dedicated much of her life to philanthropic work. She founded and directed The Magic of Medicine, a long-running therapeutic program that used magic to help children whose parents were undergoing cancer treatment, offering them empowerment and emotional support during a difficult time. She has received the American Academy of Dermatology’s Presidential Citation Award for her contributions of event design, scripting, and entertainment as emcee for the AAD’s President’s Gala, which raised 1.2 million dollars for vital programs including Camp Discovery and the Shade Structure Grant Program.
A graduate of the B.S./M.D. program at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Angela completed dermatology residency at MetroHealth Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where she served as academic chief resident. She is also an accomplished photographer and cinematographer and has served as president of the production company Seraphim One, Inc. for almost two decades.
While she continues to practice dermatology full time, Angela accepts a limited number of select engagements, bringing her signature blend of intellect, artistry, and imagination to audiences around the world.
